Patients of any age may be referred to Hospice of Texarkana/Hospice of Hope. A patient must have been diagnosed as having a life expectancy of six months or less and have opted for a palliative rather than a curative plan of care. In 2007, more than 300 patients were served with 53% having cancer and 47% having non-cancer diagnoses.
A family member or other responsible party must be capable and willing to work with the hospice team in giving and directing home care.
Referrals to Hospice of Texarkana come from many sources: family members, friends, nurses, social workers, clergy or others. The patient's primary physician will be contacted to approve the applicant for hospice care. Call the office and talk with an Admission's Nurse to see if hospice care is appropriate for your loved one at this time.
Hospice services may be covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and/or private insurance.
No patient is denied services due to a lack of insurance or financial resources. With this in mind, the Board of Directors actively solicits contributions from estates, local foundations, individuals, businesses, service clubs, churches, and other organizations. To take advantage of this opportunity to help, click on "How To Give".
