U.S.
Rep. Ralph Hall, R-Texas, made a visit Monday to Hospice of Texarkana as
part of its drive to bring a Hospice Inpatient Care Center to Texarkana.
The agency has been involved in a public capital campaign for more
than a year with a goal of raising $6.5 million for the facility. To
date $1.1 million has been raised.
Hall was supportive of the
agency’s goal to bring an end-of-life care facility, which would be
the first of its kind locally, to Texarkana. He advised the supporters
to apply for any applicable available funding regardless of how
difficult it may seem because there is always a chance. Hall also said
it was a worthwhile visit for him to see firsthand the plans that are
in place.
Hall also presented to Hospice of Texarkana Board
President Tom Daniels a flag that has flown over the U.S. Capitol and
asked that it be flown in memory of his wife and of patients who have
been served by hospices.
The proposed 22,000-square-foot
building is to be on 3.3 acres of the CHRISTUS St. Michael Health
System campus.
