The 14th Annual Hospice Team Bass Tournament was a huge success with 91 teams participating. Despite windy conditions, Todd Thomas, 24, and his brother Eric, 23, came away with first place and $1,500. The pair from Fouke, AR, weighed in a five-stringer limit totaling 19.59 pounds.
The Texarkana Gazette quoted Todd as saying, "The wind actually helped us since we caught our five bass on spinner bait. We fished at the East end and the river all day."
The Biggest Bass award of $540 went to the team of Jerry Stotts and Bubba Snow who weighed an 8.86 pound fish. The Big Bass Pot is an optional contest that teams can enter for $10. The top two fish split 100% of the entry fees with a 60/40 split. Stotts, a 66-year-old from Texarkana, was quoted in the newspaper saying, ? caught it just 15 minutes before the weigh-in time (3 p.m.) across the lake near Little River. Mr. Snow, 56, is from Atlanta, TX.
The 2007 winners were Keith Shelton of Bivins, TX, and William Lunsford of Texarkana, AR.
